| Point B Provides Project Leadership to Social Venture Partners
03.15.04 Consulting Firm to Implement a Knowledge Management Solution that Enables SVP to More Effectively Provide Assistance to Seattle-Area Nonprofits SEATTLE -- Point B Solutions Group, LLP, a professional services firm specializing in project leadership and execution, today announced that it will provide project leadership support to Social Venture Partners (SVP) -- a philanthropic organization that links Seattle-area business professionals with local nonprofits that can benefit from their donated time and expertise. "We¹re excited to become an SVP partner and to have the opportunity to help some very worthy causes in our community," said Tim Jenkins, co-founder and partner at Point B. "SVP does an outstanding job of providing support to its network of nonprofits and we look forward to helping them accomplish even more." Beginning this month, Point B will work with SVP to develop a knowledge management program that enables SVP partners, staff and stakeholders to more efficiently access and share information relating to past and current projects, talent and expertise available in the partner network, and additional data and resources that can help SVP to effectively meet the needs of each of the nonprofits in its portfolio. During the three-month-long project, Point B associates will work side-by-side with SVP staff to design and implement the solution, which will be built around Microsoft’s SharePoint Portal Server product. Following a successful Seattle implementation, SVP hopes to bring many more Social Venture Partners International [SVPI] affiliates onto the SharePoint system. "This is a large project that, without Point B’s support, we probably couldn¹t pull off on our own," said Paul Shoemaker, executive director, SVP. "Their ability to step in and get the job done will enable us to improve existing process without interrupting our core business of helping others. That’s what they do best and we¹re lucky to have them on our team." Founded in 1997 by members of the Puget Sound technology community, SVP’s mission is to develop philanthropy and volunteerism that achieves positive social change. SVP engages business and community "partners" to contribute time, money, and expertise in ways that enable local nonprofits to more effectively deliver programs and services. Partner involvement ranges from hands-on work such as setting up a website, to the development of core skills, management practices, strategies, and systems that can enhance an organization¹s effectiveness, sustainability and ability to fulfill its mission. SVP supports a wide range of local nonprofits by providing cash grants, skilled volunteers, professional consultants, leadership development and management training opportunities.
