| Point B Named One of Denver Area's Best Places to Work
12.02.04 Project leadership firm recognized by Denver Business Journal for flexible schedules, progressive work-life program for all its associates DENVER -- Point B Solutions Group, LLP, a professional services firm specializing in project leadership, has been awarded third place in the small-sized companies category in the Denver Business Journal’s 2004 Best Places to Work program. “We’re pleased to be recognized by the Denver Business Journal as having one of the region’s most unique work-life cultures,” said Rick Warter, practice director at Point B. “This award reflects our company’s total commitment to providing a great place for top project leaders in Denver to serve their local business community,” he added. Point B accumulated 98.20 points in the annual Denver Business Journal program, ranking it third among all 120 companies nominated for the award, regardless of size. The professional services firm, which also has offices in Seattle, Phoenix and Portland, Ore., employs seasoned project leaders who are not required to travel or frequently relocate, something considered standard among most “Big 5” consulting firms. Impressive to judges was the fact that Point B encourages its employees to balance their careers with interests outside of work, including family, volunteerism and recreational activities. Point B’s work environment is also decidedly entrepreneurial. To that end, associates have the freedom — and are encouraged by management — to develop a wide range of professional skills like employee recruitment, new-client development or new business exploration. The Business Journal recognized Point B’s unique peer-based consulting model in naming the company for the award. The model, which enables company associates to leverage knowledge and expertise from more than 170 Point B consultants inside or outside Denver, has proven successful in other markets, too. Point B’s Seattle office recently placed second for the Seattle market in a similar competition sponsored by Washington CEO magazine. The Denver Business Journal Best Companies to Work For program honors workplace excellence among for-profit companies located throughout Colorado. Nominations are evaluated within three categories: Large Companies (151+ employees), Medium Companies (51-150 employees) and Small Companies (1-50 employees). Companies competing in the program are evaluated through employee surveys and by an independent panel of judges. The panel uses survey data to assess how the companies’ employees feel about a variety of workplace issues, including: hiring and staff retention; communication; benefits; work environment; supervision; rewards and recognition; leadership, training and career development; and, performance standards, among others. Point B’s unique approach to project leadership maximizes the use of a client's internal resources by deploying experienced project leaders into key roles. Associates at the firm are project leadership veterans with an average of seven to 10 years of business experience at “Big 5” consulting firms or other leading organizations. Point B provides leadership to virtually any type of business initiative or project, including merger and acquisition integration, business process design, department turnarounds, software selection, customer relationship improvement, enterprise resource planning, and deployment of information systems. The firm also assists clients in the areas of recruiting, business and technical analysis, and business case development. Point B usually serves as a consultant, but is also able to fill interim staff positions. About Point B
