| Mike Pongon Receives “40 Under 40” Honor from the Puget Sound Business Journal
09.18.08 SEATTLE (September 18, 2008) — Point B’s chief operating officer, Mike Pongon, was honored tonight at an awards ceremony hosted by the Puget Sound Business Journal as one of Seattle’s top “40 Under 40” young business leaders. Pongon, 34, leads Point B’s operations, including finance, administration, technology, people and service delivery functions, across the firm’s seven practices in Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Portland, San Francisco and Seattle. Prior to his role as COO, Pongon led Point B’s Portland practice, where he grew the practice more than 400 percent between 2003 and 2005. His career at Point B began in 2000, as a senior associate in Portland. Earlier, Pongon was a project manager for DBM Systems in Cambridge, Ontario, and an analyst for Smith Barney in Seattle. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Puget Sound Business Journal’s venerable “40 Under 40” award, which each year recognizes outstanding young professionals based on their entrepreneurial spirit and their contribution to the region through their business and community involvement. In addition to coaching soccer and Little League and volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, Pongon serves as a lecturer and mentor for the University of Washington MBA program. He also serves on the board of directors for the Portland Trauma Intervention Program and on the board of trustees for Oregon’s Multiple Sclerosis Society Chapter. Pongon and the other 39 honorees are profiled in the September 12 issue of the Puget Sound Business Journal. “Having seen the other honorees, it is incredibly humbling to be on this year’s ‘40 Under 40’ list,” says Pongon. “It is a great credit to our clients, associates, my mentors at Point B, and my wife that I received this honor. Each one of them has played a key role in my success, and I wish for each of them to share in this distinction.” “However, as a leader, my yardstick of success is whether people around me grow and thrive personally and professionally. I’m extremely proud of the fact that Point B grew by more than 30 percent last year and that we were just recognized by Consulting Magazine as one of the best firms in the world to work for, with one of the highest overall morale scores. Point B has established a great network of professionals and peers, and it is my privilege to be able to support them in providing top-notch service to our clients.” Point B created its COO role in 2007 to ensure that the firm’s service delivery, project leader practices and organizational character continue to be second to none. Pongon is the only person in the firm to hold this position to date. An $80 million firm with approximately 400 associates nationwide, Point B successfully completed more than 700 projects for clients last year. About Point B
