How I Deliver: Mindshare on Steroids

The word “collective” isn’t always held in high favor outside of a few revanchist Soviet farm workers and certain members of the Berkeley City Council.  And yet I find myself proudly hoisting the collectivist flag when it comes to leveraging the power of the Point B many for my client’s better purpose.  Why is that?

It comes down to simple math.  Each of us brings a unique set of talents and learned skills to Point B. On their own, these attributes are generally enough for a typical Point B’er to get to the desired end-state.  However, I have come to view the ability to add perspective and knowledge available through our collective wisdom as “mindshare on steroids”, effectively applied even in those situations where I am knowledgeable about a certain deliverable or process.  How?

First, the collective approach provides dimension, by challenging (or even validating) the way I have thought and acted before; and 2) the collective approach infuses credibility by conveying to my clients that they are getting greater value for their money than “merely Tom”, the resource they have enlisted under contract.  When these advantages are accrued with the more generally understood benefits associated with enhancing knowledge through the experience of others, the value add can be considerable.

Last but not least, the ability to leverage component skills and knowledge for the betterment of our clients is an essential competitive differentiator because now competitors must not just compete against our people, but also our means of effectively and purposefully leveraging the power of the Point B community.

In the military, they call that 2+2 = 5.  Like I said, simple math.
