Meet Denver-based Point B’er Claire Chatelain. Claire recently graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where she studied Business Administration and Marketing. During her time at Point B she has been working with our Recruiting and Marketing Teams to get some exciting initiatives off the ground. We recently caught up with her to get a behind-the-scenes look at her day-to-day life as an Analyst and learn why she joined our company.
Walk us through your typical day.
Oh boy – if I’m honest, I am not a morning person. My day typically starts by hitting snooze a few times and going straight for the coffee maker. Once the coffee hits, the first thing I do is start by making a to-do list for the day and double checking my calendar so that I can go in with a solid plan. I try to get all high-priority items done and check in with my team before lunch, then I take a step away and go for walk or run around the neighborhood (fresh air and sunshine are important). I wrap up my day by finishing any last to-do items and catching up with at least one Point B’er which is always a highlight! After a productive day I like to unplug and get out the house to do something with my roommates whether that’s indulging in “Taco Tuesday” or sledding in the park – there’s no excuse to not do something that brings you pure joy everyday!
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
I am driven by impact and connection and try to treat every day as an opportunity to achieve both of those things. Knowing that the work that lies ahead of me for the day is going to make a positive impact on both our customers and Point B makes me excited and motivated to get things done. For me, the cherry on top is that I absolutely adore the people I work with –they inspire me, support me and absolutely crack me up. I am constantly amazed by the connections and relationships I’ve formed in just a few short months and in a virtual working world nonetheless – Point B’ers are tough to beat!
What is the hallmark of a great day at work?
If I’m honest, it’s hard to not have a great day at Point B. If I had to boil it down, I would say a great day at work is comprised of three things. The first being getting something you’ve been working hard on across the finish line – there’s nothing like that feeling of accomplishment when you check something big off the list. The second is meeting someone new that you instantly connect with and having one of those conversations where you leave thinking “wow, the people that work here are so awesome.” Lastly, is kicking off a project that utterly excites you and makes you want to spring out of bed the next morning and do it all over again!
Have you discovered any work from home hacks?
I am currently moving around the country in Airbnb’s with my friends from college, one a fellow Point B’er (shoutout Carly Auerbach), so I do not have my full ergonomic set up down. That said, I do have a favorite tip to share. Blue light glasses – these things have been a life saver. Not only do my eyes thank me after a long day of staring at a screen, but they are also my go-to accessory to make me feel a little more put together on video calls.
Where can we find you outside of work?
I dedicate a lot of time to my ‘side hustle’ that my best friend and I started just over a year ago. It allows us to have a creative outlet, meet likeminded people and foster a creative community. When I’m not working on that, I love to try new food, meet new people, and see new things, even despite pandemic-related challenges!
Why did you join Point B?
Coming out of college I knew that I wanted to jump into an environment that would continuously challenge me and give me exposure across several industries. However, I knew that the only way that I was really going to grow and not be afraid to fail is if I had amazing people to support me, encourage me and catch me when I fall. Point B gives me that perfect balance of empowering me to take on challenging work while still honoring individual choice. So far I couldn’t agree more that Point B exists for the benefit of its people!
