Our Impact

Helping Starbucks Design a Social Impact Engine

When Starbucks wanted to accelerate its mission to hire 10,000 veterans and military spouses by 2018, they engaged Point B to design the program management model to scale the initiative, which also aims to honor those who have served. The model united efforts across the enterprise, acting as an engine to advance strategies and engage all parts of the organization. Point B is proud to play a part in building an enduring program model that can be leveraged to advance future initiatives.

Giving Local Nonprofits a Lift

In 2015, resource manager Alison Bickford took a close look at the question, “How do we better utilize our people while they are not on a client engagement?" Her idea: the Lift concept, which offers short-term consulting services to the local nonprofit community. Nonprofit organizations benefit from access to top-tier consulting resources at significantly discounted rates. And our associates benefit from the opportunity to take on interesting and challenging work while contributing to the community in a meaningful way.

Expanding New Horizons

Point B teams have been serving breakfast to homeless youth at Seattle’s New Horizons Ministries every month since 1999. We've also provided business planning expertise as part of a team of community leaders helping New Horizons plan and execute its vision for Street Bean, a coffee shop that employs street youth. Our people are involved with many not-for-profit organizations as board members, financial sponsors, volunteers, and even chairs of organizations they've founded.

Creating Opportunities for Women and Girls in Africa

Donna Verhasselt joined our firm with a passion for philanthropic action. Point B’s emphasis on life/work balance gives her the opportunity to take summers off and focus on her philanthropic passions: empowering women and girls in Zambia through education initiatives that reduce poverty and encourage sustainable practices. “I have yet to run into someone who has the flexibility I have, yet manages to have an engaging professional career. I can be an active mom, an impactful professional and an engaged philanthropist because of Point B.”
