The Challenge 

QVC has embraced its mobile channel in a big way. As one of the world's leading shopping networks on TV, the company wanted to extend the presence of its highest-profile celebrity personalities and associated product lines into the pockets of shoppers everywhere. QVC engaged Point B Experience Design Team to develop an app strategy together with a suite of native mobile apps to promote the proprietary brands.

Creating star-studded apps

To create a deeply engaging digital experience, we developed an app strategy together with the design and build of pilot apps for two of QVC's celebrity personalities: fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi and food celebrity chef David Venable. Working in partnership with QVC's internal tech team, we created reusable back-end functionality including live streaming, TV, ecommerce and easy content refresh via HTML5.

Making the connections

To deliver on the full potential of this experience, we created a fusion of each celebrity's unique personality and our client's brand with dynamic content update and presentation. These mobile apps:

Connect the personality. The apps won accolades for creating interface designs and messaging that captured the celebrities' unique personalities, while advancing the QVC brand.

Connect the systems. We developed a rich in-app experience with integration to QVC's ecommerce, live stream TV and Bazaarvoice ratings and reviews.

Connect to the content. We connected dynamic content update and presentation via HTML5—for fast updates.

Easy shopping on the fly

As part of the Mizrahi celebrity app, we built a digital Fantasy Closet to feature the designer's products. The closet's modular framework captures product photos that can be dynamically updated and stitched together in the app. We also built three independent photo boxes to be used for product shots. Photos can be cropped and dropped into the closet for display and updating; each closet space is clickable on the app. Shoppers can view and shop the closet on their mobile devices. We also developed a robust back-end system that ties into QVCs fulfillment system, so it's easy for shoppers to check product availability and make purchases on the go.

Our deep technical knowledge ensured the smooth integration of QVC's back-end inventory management database to provide timely purchase information to app shoppers anytime, everywhere.
