In 2004, Point B team members shared a personal connection with the disease, and the firm began sponsoring the MS Society at various levels. This connection and partnership has now grown into the largest sponsorship and volunteer platform for Point B and its clients. The firm supports MS Society’s series of cycling events called Bike MS every year in five major cities throughout the U.S. The Bike MS events usually consist of a two-day event where family and friends of Point B gather to train, raise funds, boost camaraderie, and ride together.
Our local Point B teams have invested their time and passion in the bike events and the MS organization’s purpose. The teams keep doing it every year because the events are incredibly well-run, the rides are memorable, and the atmosphere of the events fosters and renews meaningful relationships like no other.
Point B Capital, the firm’s venture capital arm, exists because of the MS Society. John Bjornson and Joe Piper, Point B Capital executives, met while both serving on the board for the MS Society. And the connection was instant. The two discussed whether the kind of model Joe used to launch a venture capital arm of the MS Society would also make sense for Point B. It turns out it did, and the concept and connection was born that led to formation of Point B Capital.
Over the years, Point B has raised over $1.5 million for the organizaiton. And there’s more to come. Because the firm’s passion for the MS Society and its mission remains a key foundation of Point B culture of community and giving.
