Portland, OR  Point B Inc., an integrated management consulting, venture investment, and real estate development firm is bringing much-needed creative office space to the John’s Landing neighborhood of Portland, Oregon. The HoodWORKS project redevelops two existing structures in the neighborhood with a new 17,000-square foot, three-story mixed-use building, with the first floor reserved for retail and the second and third floor for offices.

“We spent a significant amount of time on the design of this building, which allowed us to move through the permitting process quickly and efficiently,” said Point B Property Development President Matt Hargis. “Now we’re ready to bring this well thought-out design concept to the unique and growing location in Southwest Portland.”

Historically, the small, vibrant John's Landing neighborhood has been home to an offbeat, youthful crowd, but the neighborhood’s office space has long been in need of a refresh. Portland residents pride themselves on maintaining a low carbon footprint, but John's Landing residents find themselves having to travel outside the community to work. The HoodWORKS design will showcase features, including bike lockers, showers, and a rooftop deck, that attract creative, entrepreneurial office space users.

The HoodWORKS architecture incorporates cross-laminated timber (CLT), exposed ceilings, and concrete floors, for a look that’s expressive, efficient and modern. The Point B Property Development team partnered with Koble Creative Architecture and Abbasi Design Works on the design for the building.

“We’re applying cutting-edge construction techniques that will enable more efficient construction and sleek aesthetics,” says Point B Property Development Principal Eric Saunders. “Only a few projects using CLT are being done in Portland.”

Point B also recently purchased a historic office building located in the South Waterfront/John’s Landing neighborhood. This property offers long-term strategic opportunities for Point B, and complements the HoodWORKS development project by bringing a key upgrade to the office real estate inventory in the John’s Landing neighborhood.
