Market conditions, ownership structures, and failed leadership can contribute to large scale resort development challenges that require new leadership, repositioning and strategic initiatives to effect a positive new direction. Mark Thorne has organized new development teams and led the repositioning and turnaround of numerous large-scale, capital-intensive, long-term resort developments. As CEO of the newly formed Lone Mountain Land Company, Mark led such turnarounds for the Spanish Peaks and Moonlight Basin ski & golf communities in Big Sky, Montana. These were purchased out of foreclosure and restructured to include recruiting and organizing a new development team, new investments in infrastructure, new residential products, additional member amenities, and rebranding and launching new sales and marketing programs. These efforts led to the addition of new club members and real estate sales of over $60 million in the first 18 months. Mark has successfully led similar turnaround efforts in multiple states over the past 25 years at numerous large, complex, high-end mixed use projects.
