Mostafa Farag, a Principal in Chicago, Illinois, shares his experience at Point B since joining in 2019.
Why did you join Point B?
I wanted to join a firm that prioritizes diversity and values contributions made from a different background and perspectives. When moving from engineering to consulting, I was searching for a place where I could continue to grow and experience complex business issues, but also enjoy my life outside of work. I found all three at Point B!
How would you describe the firm culture at Point B?
Point B has a people-focused culture. We are very team-oriented and lead with empathy to ensure everyone is treated with respect and dignity. As a result, there is an invaluable feeling of belonging here which is a crucial part of our culture.
How does Point B help you achieve your career goals?
Here at Point B, we have leadership that is deeply invested in our professional growth. I take career development seriously. Therefore, I really appreciate the initiative my leadership takes to schedule reoccurring touchpoints to discuss my interests and provide opportunities to attain my professional goals.
“My favorite thing about Point B is the camaraderie every associate has with one another and the willingness to lend a helping hand.”
Where can we find you outside of work?
Outside of work I enjoy staying active. Whether that is working out, hiking, bouldering or meeting friends out to explore the city (proud Chicagoan), I am always on the move. With the weather warming up, you will find me pool side enjoying the sun!
What would you like to work on next at Point B?
I have worn many hats during my time at Point B. As my interests have evolved, I have been provided with opportunities to explore new areas and responsibilities. At the moment, I have made it a personal goal to continue exploring business strategy, specifically in the M&A domain. However, in general, I am energized by new challenges, therefore, I am excited for the continuous learning and development that is to come with new opportunities.
Describe your most memorable experience at Point B.
There are many to choose from, but one that stands out is my first client engagement. After a long day, the team decided to go out to dinner. Despite our own busy, individual schedules, we took the time to be in each other’s company and spend the evening strengthening our personal relationships. That can be quite the sacrifice after a long day on client work, so it really meant a lot to me. Looking back, it is moments like this that make me appreciate working at a firm that has become family.
What is your favorite thing about Point B?
My favorite thing about Point B is the camaraderie every associate has with one another, and the willingness to lend a helping hand. We pride ourselves on being connectors! There have been numerous occasions where people have gone out of their way to provide me with their insights, expertise, and time when there was no “benefit” to them. The genuine support I have experienced and witnessed is unparalleled and is something I will always cherish about our people.
We are so grateful to have such amazing Point Bers like Mostafa!
