Building out a large scale ski and golf resort community

Location: Park City, Utah

Size: 14,000+ acres

Timeline: 2002 - 2011

Role: Developer

While in his role as Executive Vice President of Resort Development, Mark Thorne led the startup of Talisker's Park City operations. Talisker assembled over 14,000 acres of resort land holdings and built, organized, and directed teams for large ski and golf communities and private club operations. Accomplishments included development of Empire Pass, an exclusive 1,200-acre ski community located on Deer Valley ski slopes; development and opening of the Montage Deer Valley resort hotel; development of Tuhaye, a 2,000-acre private golf community encompassing over 650 homes and a Mark O’Meara golf course; organization of the Talisker Club, a private mountain resort club; and planning, development, and buildout of the Canyons Resort. The Empire Pass ski community achieved both the highest volume of sales and the highest prices of any community in the greater Park City market.
